The Best-Dressed List from the 74th BAFTA Awards – a two-day virtual & socially distanced event of ultimate glamour
The bright side of things is poking from within awards season 2021 events that include a physical red carpet and a virtual one. With some presenters and actors making it to the actual 74th British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall, while others hailing from across continents – dressing up at home for the occasion – high-fashion infused with British edginess was the star of the night. Celebrity stylists pulled off some of their clients’ best award looks ever!

Renée Zellweger presented from LA in a stunning silver-blue sweetheart-neckline Armani Privé bodycon midi dress with David Webb jewelry and nude Christian Louboutin heels, styled by Petra Flannery. Always an absolute Hollywood star, she looked happy and confident, her fabulous hairstyle done by Richard Marin and fresh-face makeup by Dana Michelle Hamel.
Vanessa Kirby rocked the perfect minimalist metallic look, an Atelier Versace chainmail gown crafted from heritage metal mesh and accented with Cartier jewelry, styled by Ryan Hastings. Her sleek updo by hairstylist Halley Brisker and cat-eye makeup by Katey Denno screamed “less is more”!
Priyanka Chopra Jonas went with the sustainable dress code memo wearing a dramatic silk mikado jacket with hand-painted, beaded, and pleated butterflies and plissé skirt made with recycled elements from Roland van Der Kemp’s archives, as part of the designer’s ethical FW20 Couture Collection. Bulgari jewelry completed a dazzling outfit styled by Law Roach. The bold makeup look was by Wendy Rowe and a different embroidered-jacket look for the night was by Spanish designer Pertegaz.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw was a muse in an embellished silver Louis Vuitton midi dress, strappy metallic sandals, and Messika jewelry, styled by Leith Clark. Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière created a perfect-fit dress with a sheer sleeveless panel, an ultra-chic strapless illusion. Hollywood-inspired purple-lip makeup was by Alex Babsky and a modern take of the 20s finger waves with a chignon by hairstylist Paul Edmonds.
Rose Byrne showed serious fashion credentials in an embellished tuxedo-inspired Miu Miu cropped-jacket suit and high-heel sandals, styled by Beth Fenton. The empowering red-lip makeup look was by Chanel Makeup Artist Kate Lee and the shiny, angular ponytail hairstyle by Mara Roszak.
Kosar Ali celebrated her first BAFTA appearance in a custom Alexander McQueen cropped tailored jacket and layered shredded tulle dress, styled by Zadrian Smith and Sarah Edmiston, her elegant makeup by Adriana Bartosova.
Maria Bakalova had another awards season Cinderella moment at the Ritz London in an embellished tulle Armani Privé gown and Messika jewelry, styled by Jessica Paster. Inspired by the dress, makeup artist James Molloy gave her iridescent lavender eyelids, peachy lips, and radiant skin combined with a slicked-back hairstyle by Patrick Wilson.
Phoebe Dynevor posed at the Ritz London too, in an asymmetric, classic black, one-shouldered evening gown, accented with couture jewelry, all by Louis Vuitton, and styled by Nicky Yates. Effortless side-part waves were by hairstylist Dayaruci and cat-eye makeup by Naoko Scintu.
Ashley Madekwe wore a bright yellow cut-out custom Louis Vuitton gown and Pomellato jewelry, styled by Sophie Lopez. An extra-long braided ponytail by hairstylist Larry Sims and graphic eyeshadow makeup by Jo Baker made for a flirty glam look.
Leslie Odom Jr. was editorially photographed for the event in two Versace FW21 suits; whimsical multi-color motif-clash looks styled by Avo Yermagyan. Makeup artist Eliven Q and hairstylist Anittria Wicker are also credited for Vogue’s “Best Dressed Man” at the 2021 BAFTA Awards!
Felicity Jones was photographed for Vogue UK at the Ritz London in Maison Valentino and Cartier jewelry, styled by Nicky Yates. Perfectly undone hair was by Christian Wood and “femme fatale” nude makeup by Florrie White.
Andra Day went for bright green color with an open-back, halter-neck Elie Saab gown featuring sultry gold-chain trims matching her oversized hoop earrings, styled by Wouri Vice. Her smokey-eye makeup was by Eva Kim and curly hairstyle by Tony Medina.
