Mario Francesco Batali, born on September 19, 1960, in Seattle, Washington, is an American chef, author, and television icon who gained household popularity with his famous TV shows like the Molto Mario and Iron Chef America. Mario Batali worked as a dishwasher first and then a pizza maker at the pub/restaurant while studying at Rutgers University. After quitting the Le Cordon Bleu cooking school of London, he worked with Chef Marco Pierre White. In 1985, he worked at the Four Seasons Clift as a sous chef in San Francisco and worked with other restaurants. Later, Mario Batali quit those jobs in 1989 and shifted to Borgo Capanne, an Italian village where he worked at the La Volta Kitchen for three years, from where his career took a significant leap. In 1993, Mario opened his first restaurant, 'PO, ' partnering with Steve Crane and later collaborating with Joe Bastianich, forming the Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group (B&BHG) in the same year.
