The Best Beauty Looks Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Came Up With for the SS22 Bridal Collections
Since the pandemic, very few celebrities tied the knot and those who did – Princess Beatrice, Lily Allen, Scarlett Johansson, Pamela Anderson – did it in a socially distanced and under-the-radar way. People from all walks of life have postponed their scheduled large-group nuptials or decided to elope. For the same reason, NYFW’s last two seasons were mostly comprised of virtual shows, and the New York Bridal Fashion Week in the first half of April went digital as well. Still, through fabulous wedding dresses and bridal beauty looks, it seems that designers, makeup artists, and hairstylists are still championing bridal fantasy, and fashionable weddings will happen soon. Let’s go through the most exciting bridal beauty trends!
Natural Beauty
From bridal hair to makeup, simplicity is one of the coolest ways to go! For the Markarian Bridal Collection 2022, hairstylist and makeup artist Thom Woods created a natural, minimalist beauty look with a boho-chic spin, mixing it impeccably with net veils, hats, and other retro-inspired headpieces.
Short Haircuts
Perfectly undone short-length waves were an ultra-chic suggestion by hairstylist Deycke Heidorn for Oscar de la Renta SS22 Bridal. It looks fashion-forward, allowing the bride to maintain her natural looks, and free from the hassle of adding extensions.
Black Eyeliner
A “femme-fatale” element can definitely be part of a wedding look! NY-based makeup artist Marco Campos gave a flirty twist to bridal makeup with subtle smokey eyes and black kohl that spices up the bride’s gaze, as seen at Alexandra Grecco’s Spring 2022 Lookbook. A strong cat-eye look by makeup artist Bassam Fattouh was also part of the spectacular, theatrical look at Zuhair Murad.
Fresh-Flower Hairstyles
At Marchesa, one of the most coveted collections in the Bridal Fashion Week Calendar, hairstylist Martín Plascencia went with the vision, articulating a major trend for bridal beauty in 2022; floral headpieces coming right off the garden, a sign of joy and optimism. Combined with a veil, it almost hides your hair, creating a mysterious, romantic beauty look.
Statement Nude Lips
Bridal lips are here to seduce! With rich, creamy lip color in a nude shade, makeup artist Maayan Hogeg complemented the earthy smokey eyes elegantly on models in the Neta Dover Bridal Couture Lookbook presented at the NY Bridal Week. A similar pout combined with sultry cat-eye liner was created by Shahaf Gaya Biton for the Berta Bridal Collection.
Maximalist Beauty
Designer Naeem Khan went full-on glamour with his bridal vision. For the SS21 Bridal Collection, hairstylist Jon Reyman created a slicked-back, shiny chignon accented with jewels and oversized satin bows. Makeup artist Arty Charli completed the glam bridal look with a clean face and vibrant red lips.
Huge Headpieces
Maximalist Ascot-inspired headgear was also incorporated in the hairstyles created by Team Hair and Makeup for the Anne Barge SS22 Bridal Collection. More over-the-top bridal looks were conceptualized at Reem Acra by makeup artist Joanne Gair and hairstylist Lorenzo Diaz.
Bohemian Waves
In the new Temperley Bridal Lookbook, effortless hairstyles allowed the bride and her dress to shine bright. Beach waves by hairstylist Hiroshi Matsushita were combined with nature-inspired extravagant headpieces and neutral makeup by Lily Gregory.
Princess Looks
Inspired by royal weddings from The Crown and other TV series we binge watched during the pandemic, romance is back in full force! Discreetly enhanced features and flawless skin give any bridal look a fairytale dimension. Makeup artist Samantha Agostino took that route for the Sareh Nouri Spring 2022 Bridal Collection.
Center-Part Hairstyles
When tied in a chignon or let loose, hair with a sleek center part is trending as effortless bridal hairstyles. Miki Buganim created a statement-making version for the Dana Harel SS22 Bridal Collection, giving symmetry to the beauty look.
Shine and Glow
Slicked-back shiny hair and glowy skin are key to this season’s looks. A grandeur version of the effect was achieved for Elie Saab Bridal SS22 by hairstylist Wassim Morkos and makeup artist Bassam Fattouh, combined with regal headpieces and veils.
Natural Curls
Women this season celebrate their naturally curly hair thanks to hairstylists like Teddi Prior, who masterminded various looks – including one with illusion bangs and a ponytail for the Bridal Fashion Week photoshoot of Odylyne The Ceremony.
