Originally from New York City, Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-Dreyfus Hall was born on January 13, 1961. She began her career as a comedian with The Practical Theatre Company, where she occasionally performed on open mic nights. Around the same time, Dreyfus was called in to audition as a performer on Saturday Night Live and later starred on the show for three years. She gained much recognition from the audience for her portrayal of Elaine Benes on the television sitcom 'Seinfeld' alongside Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David.
