One of France’s most revered female hairstylists, Odile Gilbert has established her career in New York and Paris. She is the only woman in this field of work to have received the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres honor from the Ministry of Culture, France. Odile began her career as a hairdresser in 1975 under industry legend, Bruno Pittini. She worked in his studio and salon where she had several opportunities to work on runways and sets of popular brand campaigns. It was in the year 1982 that she moved to New York where she worked on several, beauty and fashion edits with photographers like Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, and Irving Penn.
Her portfolio includes names like Vogue, W Magazine, Numero, Vogue Italia Lancome, Calvin Klein, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Giorgio Armani. She is known for her experimental style which is completely out-of-the-box. The top hat that she designed from natural hair for Jean-Paul Gaultier is proof of that. This masterpiece was purchased by the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum. Odile is a true magician when it comes to hair and can switch from natural styles to uncanny works of art when needed.
