Donald Simrock currently works as the Beauty Editor of Flaunt Magazine, through which he shares his insight and creative process for executing powerful editorial makeup. In addition to Flaunt, Simrock has took part in editorials which have been published in magazines such as Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue, among others. First step towards his career was the Colorado Institute of Art (now known as the Art Institute of Colorado) in Denver. His first job as a makeup artist was at a salon in Trump Tower, where he got the chance to train with makeup artist Pat McGrath, who had title as one of the most influential makeup artists, given by Vogue magazine. He worked with her for 6 years for brands like Prada, Dior, Versace, Calvin Klein and Louis Vuitton.During his years as a makeup artist, Donald’s has showed his creativity on the runway for various fashion houses such as Heatherette, and in music videos for Marilyn Manson, George Michael, Evanescence and The Pussycat Dolls. His wide artistic range and recognition as a top makeup artist have led to collaborations with many of the industry’s top directors and photographers including Hype Williams and David LaChapelle.
