Born on May 23, 1967, in Detmold, Germany, Wotan Wilke Mohring first appeared on screen in 1998 in Die Bubi-Scholz-Story, depicting a German boxer’s life. He worked alongside Benno Furmann and Gotz George. Wotan played the lead in Der Letzte Schoene Tag (2013) and won the Grimme Prize. He won the Student Academy Award in 2011 and an Oscar nomination in 2012 for his lead role in a small film by Max Zante. Wotan was also a part of the critically acclaimed film Valkyrie (2008), which revolved around a plot to assassinate Hitler during the Second World War. Mohring has worked in over 90 movies and television shows. He has won several other nominations and awards in the field of German films. The actor also played the lead in a Swedish thriller series, West of Liberty (2018), an adaptation of a novel written by Thomas Engstrom. He is the recipient of the German Television Prize for Best Actor.
