Born on 1 May 1976, in Rome, Italy, Placido is a talented actress, singer, and songwriter. She made her acting debut in Quattro Bravi Ragazzi (1993) with her father Michele Placido. She made a lasting impression with her performance in the comedy Soul Mate in 2002. She starred as the lead in A Dinner For Them To Meet (2007) which also was a comedy. Violante is best-known for her portrayal of a prostitute Clara in thriller The American (2010). Her performance brought many Hollywood offers at her disposal and she next starred in fantasy/comic book film Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011) where she played a tough Romani woman. As a singer, she released her album Don't Be Shy in 2006. Her other film credits include Vite Strozzate (1996), Farfalle(1997), Now or Never (2003), Ovunque Si (2004), and Sleepless (2009).
