Thomas Jeffrey Hanks is an American actor, producer, screenwriter, and director. He was born on July 9, 1956, in Concord, California. He attended Skyline School in Oakland, then enrolled at Chabot College, California, then went on to Sacramento State University, where he majored in theater. Hanks made the first roles of him in plays "The Taming the Shrew", "Hamlet" (1977), "Polly" (1978). He debuted in the movie "He Knows You're Alone "(1980). Hanks made his first leading role in the film "Bachelor Party" (1984) that same year Hanks made "Splash", then starred in several comedies. Along with Denzel Washington, he stars in "Philadelphia" (1993), where he won his first Oscar for best actor. Then came "Forrest Gump" (1994), winning his second consecutive Oscar. Hanks has won: four Golden Globes, two Emmys, a Screen Actors Guild Award.
