Born on October 16, 1958, Tim Robbins is an American actor, screenwriter, director, producer, activist, and musician. He was born in West Covina, California, U.S. Robbins' father was a folk musician. As a teenager, seeing his father, Robbins started performing in a new theatre. He later turned to graduation from the University of California in 1982 to study drama. Tim Robbins began co-writing plays in 1985 and later took guest parts in television shows like  St. Elsewhere, The Love Boat, and Hill Street Blues. Meanwhile, he starred in his first film, Toy Soldiers (1984), and appeared as a pilot in Tom Cruise's Top Gun. Robbins wrote and directed Cradle will Rock in 1999.
