Initially working as a model, she first appeared in the American medical drama General Hospital. She also acted in MacGyver and Anything But Love and was also loved in Fine Gold (1989), Instant Karma (1990), Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991), and Wayne World series. Tia released her first album, Dream, in 1993. Tia was nominated for the Saturn award in 1994 for Best Supporting Actress. She was seen in the Canadian TV series Relic Hunter (1999-2002).
