The Drums is an American musical Pop Indie band formed in 2008 in New York City. The founding members were Jacob Graham and Jonathan Pierce, but they had created this band much earlier and initially named it Goat Explosion, later renaming it Elkland. Their first album came in 2005 and was called Golden. After three years, they decided to call their band The Drums, guitarist Adam Kessler and drummer Connor Hanwich soon joined them, and together, in 2009, they released their first EP called Summertime. After that, the band got wide recognition and was shortlisted as one of the 15 best music acts in the BBC Sound of 2010, and went on to perform on the NME Awards 2010, alongside renowned bands such as Bombay Bicycle Club, The Big Pink, and The Maccabees.
