She studied at Stanford University, Sarah Lawrence College Yale School of Dramatic Art.Weaver made her theatrical debut in 1973, but her film career came with the film "Annie Hall" (1977). She characterized the character of Lieutenant Ripley in the saga "Alien: The Eighth Passenger" (1979), and in the three installments of "Alien" (1986, 1992, and 1997), she repeated the character working in the production of the last two films.
