After an entry into the entertainment world as a Broadway dancer, American Comedian Rita Rudner shifted her focus to stand-up comedy because of a lack of female performers. This was the beginning of a successful career that spanned over three decades, making her one of the most successful women in comedy today. Born in Miami, she made her debut with Lily St. Regis’s role in the musical ‘Annie’. At the age of 25, she was intrigued by comedy and began to study the works of her idols, Jack Benny and Woody Allen. The highlight of her comedy career was a TV debut on the popular show ‘Late Night With David Letterman’. Her comedy specials like ‘Rita Rudner: Born to be Mild’ and ‘Rita Rudner: Married Without Children’ even went on to win several awards. In 1992, she made her silver screen debut in the film ‘Peter’s Friends’. For her show, ‘Ask Rita’, she even won a Gracie Allen Award.
