Phoebe Philo is a British fashion designer born on January 1, 1973, in Paris, France. When Phoebe first received a sewing machine as a birthday gift from her parents, she began customizing her clothes, which everyone loved. Phoebe went on to graduate from Central Saint Matin's College of Art and Design in London. Soon after graduation, she joined Chloe as Stella Mc. Cartney's Design Assistant in 1997. Under her, the brand became a commercial success. In 2008 she joined LVMH, a French multinational corporation, as the Creative Director of Celine. Very soon, she set up a studio and lent the collection her personal, playful, and sensual touch. Her innovations included padlocked Paddington bags, baby doll dresses, and high-waisted jeans. She was influenced by Helmut Lang and Jil Slander. Her stylish box-shaped bags and Boston Tote bags became a regular, must-have for young clients. Philo won the British Designer Of The Year Award twice. Also received an International Award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America. She was also appointed as the Officer of Order of the British Empire.
