Phillip Lim, an American fashion designer, was born on 16 September 1973 in China. His parents came to America from Thailand during the Cambodian genocide. Lim worked and co-founded the Los Angeles-based fashion label 'Development'. He worked there from 2000 to 2004. Later in his career, Lim founded a fashion line called '3.1 Phillip Lim'. He has received both critical and commercial success with his eponymous line and is known for his creative and innovative designs. In 2007, Lim was awarded Emerging Talent in Womenswear by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for his fantastic work at 3.1. Phillip Lim.
