Starck Studied at the Ecole Nissim de Camondo, Paris, and set up his first company in 1968. In the early 1970s, he worked for clients like Main Bleue (1976) and Bains-Douches (1978). In 1983, Philippe commissioned private apartments in the Elysee Palace (1983-84), making him recognizable to a broader audience. He later designed interiors for restaurants like Café Costes in Paris (1984), Tokyo (1985), and Mexico in 1990. Starck designed the Royalton and Paramount hotel (1988-1990). The Delano Hotel (1995) that he created became famous for its metal apple holder fixed to the wall. Later Starck designed on commission, including boats for Beneteau, mineral-water bottles for Glacier, Kitchen appliances-Notably the Juicy Salif Juicer and Fluocaril toothbrushes. Starck came up with designs for televisions and Thomson Multimedia, Watches for Fossil, and optical mouse for Microsoft. These made Starck well known for its affordable prices, thus targeting mass markets.
