Born on August 18, 1952, in Texas, Patrick Wayne Swayze is an American actor, singer, and dancer. He is best known for his performances in Ghost (1990) and Dirty Dancing (1987). He started his acting career with the role of Danny Zuko for the original Broadway production Grease. His film debut was with Skatetown in 1979. He starred opposite co-celebrities Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, and Matt Dillon for a movie called The Outsiders in 1983. ). He acted in minor roles in several mini-series like North and South (1985). His acting career took off after his back-to-back performances in Red Dawn (1984), and Youngblood (1986). The actor has received three Golden Globe Award for Best Actor nominations for his work. Some of his other films are Point Break (1991), Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (2004), and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar (1995).
