Olivier Assayas
Born on January 25, 1955, in Paris, France, Olivier Assayas started his career in cinema by working with his father, the French Screenwriter Raymond Assayas as a ghostwriter for the television that he was working on at the time. Assayas eventually developed an interest in the field and began directing a few short films and writing for the famous film magazine, Cahiers Du Cinéma. He made his cinematic debut in 1986 with the movie 'Cold Water.' Assayas's work in this film earned him the critics' approval. The film was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1004 Cannes Film Festival. One of Olivier's biggest hits came with 'Irma Vep' with Maggie Cheung. The film was initially written as a tribute to the French Director Louis Feuillade and a humble homage to the Hong Kong film industry. Oliver Assayas also won the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 for his movie 'Personal Shopper' starring Kristen Stewart.
