Martin Hayter Short OC is a Canadian-American actor, comedian, singer, and writer. He was born on March 26, 1950, in Hamilton, Canada. Martin attended college with fellow SCTV members Eugene Levy and Dave Thomas at Westdale High School in Hamilton, Ontario. He was first seen playing a giant VISA card in a television commercial. Martin was first seen in the 1972 Toronto production of Godspell with Levy and Andrea Martin. He made his Broadway debut in 1993 in 'The Goodbye Girl. Martin received the Order of Canada in 1994. In 2001, Martin turned down the opportunity to play accountant Leo Bloom in 'The Producers' and opted for Mathew Broderick. He was seen in the 2003 Los Angeles production opposite Jason Alexander. He took part in the 2006 Broadway show and revived his previous characters like Jiminy Click and Ed Grimley. Martin Hosted' O Canada!' educational film in 2007.
