Born on May 8, 1976, in the United States, Martha Wainwright is a Canadian-American folk-rock singer and songwriter. She is the daughter of Loudon Wainwright III, the American folk singer, actor, and Canadian folk singer and songwriter Kate McGarrigle. Martha grew up in a musical family with her brother Rufus Wainwright. In 1999, Martha Wainwright sang the title track of an animated film titled 'When the Day Breaks', produced by the National Film Board of Canada, and the movie was directed by Windy Tilby and Amanda Forbis. Studying drama at Montreal's Concordia University, she moved to New York and became a singer-songwriter. She has worked with producer Brad Albetta on her debut album titled after her name and released by MapleMusic Recording on April 12, 2005. In 2006, 'Set fire to the Third Bar' was Martha's song recorded with the Snow Patrol, instantly becoming super popular.
