Mario Cain Van Peebles, an American film director, and actor was born on January 15, 1957, in Mexico City. In 1968, Van Peebles started his screen appearance with the soap opera One Life to Live. In 1971, he appeared in Sweet Sweetbacks Baadasssss Song that Melvin Van Peebles, his father, directed. Later he appeared in films like Exterminator 2, Rappin, Heartbreak Ridge, and many others. In 1991, Van Peebles made his directorial debut with New Jack City. In 1993, he starred and directed in Posse opposite Woody Strode, Billy Zane, Tiny Lister, Tone Lōc, Big Daddy Kane, Robert Hooks. Mario is famous for directing the shows — Top of the Hill, 21 Jump Street, and Wiseguy. In 2012, he wrote, directed, and acted in We the Party and Red Sky. Later, he showed his directorial skills in The Last Ship, Bloodline, Superstition, Empire and Being Mary Jane, and many others as well.
