Born in 1975, Maria Bailey is a politician from Dublin, Ireland affiliated to the Fine Gael political party. Bailey began her political career after graduating from the University College, Dublin. As a member of the Fine Gael, Bailey contested in elections and successfully won many of them, becoming a member of the lower house of the Irish parliament. She served as the chairperson of the Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government in the 32nd Dail Eireann, from 2016 to 2019. Bailey was elected as the Teachta Dála for the constituency of Dún Laoghaire in the general elections of 2016 and remained in office till 2020. However, her political career as a member of the Dail Eireann or the lower house of the Irish parliament came to an end due to a controversy over a physical injury.
