Manic Street Preachers are a rock band from Welsh formed in Blackwood in 1986. The manics in the band are cousins Sean Moore, James Dean Bradfield, and Nicky Wire. The band is best known for its hard rock and punk rock genres. Suicide Alley was their first single, the band then saw the joining of guitarist Richey Edwards. Their debut album was Generation Terrorists. The Manics performed in several festivals like Glastonbury, V Festival, T in the Park, and Reading. Soon, they won 11 NME awards, 4 BRIT awards, and 8 Q awards. After getting nominated at the Mercury Prize and MTV Europe Music Awards, the group soon managed to reach the number 1 position in the UK Charts. ‘The Masses Against the Classes’ was regarded as their best single in 2000. It sold 10 million copies worldwide.
