Born on September 6, 1967, in Canton, Ohio, USA, Macy Gray also known as Natalie Hinds started her musical career while graduating from college. At first, she casually agreed to write songs for a friend and eventually gave voice to those songs. After that, Macy went on to form bands, teach herself a variety of music and performed in shows. Finally, she signed with Epic Records in 1998 and released her first three albums, On How Life Is (1999), The Id (2001), and The Trouble with Being Myself (2003). Macy won numerous awards and accolades for her single ‘I Try,’ including the Brit Award for International Female Solo in 2000. She signed with many other labels and went on to release her subsequent albums, including The Sellout (2010), The Way (2014), and Ruby (2018). She is a recipient of the Grammy for the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for ‘I Try’ in 2001.
