Born on March 2, 1942, Lewis Allan Reed was a renowned singer, songwriter, and critically acclaimed poet. Apart from being a successful solo singer, he has been a founder of a rock band named The Velvet Underground. His dance song titled 'The Ostrich' (1960) was a minor hit, after which Reed started getting fame as a pop singer across the world. He left the band in 1970 and went on working on his solo career ever since. Around twenty individual albums were released after that. His second album is titled 'Transformer.' It was released in 1972 and immediately brought him mainstream recognition. He collaborated with John Cale, another renowned singer, for an album called 'Songs for Drella' (1990). This song was a tribute to their close friend and artist Andy Warhol. They became "The Velvet Underground" and collaborated with celebrity drummer Maureen Tucker and guitarist Sterling Morrison. Reed passed away due to a severe liver disease on October 27 in 2017.
