Julio José Iglesias de la Cueva is a Spanish singer, songwriter, and footballer. He was born in Madrid, Spain, on September 23, 1943. He is the father of Enrique Iglesias, a singer. Julio studied law from CEU San Pablo University in Madrid and played football. He was the goalkeeper of the Real Madrid Castilla that played in the Spanish football league system. Julio gave his first performance on the song 'La Vida Sigue Igual', which won the Benidorm International Song award in 1968. Later he joined Disco Columbia with the album 'Yo Canto'. He was the Spain representative in the Eurovision Song contest in 1970. Julio performed in many languages, including Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese, German, and French. He joined hands with CBS international in 1979 after moving to the United States. The singer won a Grammy award in 1988 for his album' Un Hombre Solo' in the Latin pop category. He was also seen in a brief appearance in the sitcom 'The Golden Girls.'
