Writer and stand-up comedian Janeane Garofalo started experimenting with comedy during her student years at Providence College. She struggled for nine long years, working as a bike messenger before landing jobs in the entertainment industry. Her first successful gig was ‘HBO Comedy Half-Hour’ in 1995. Following that, she appeared in more than 50 films playing small cameo roles. The romantic comedy, ‘The Truth About Cats and Dogs’, caught the industry's attention, and she was finally offered the lead in the film ‘The Matchmaker’. This was followed by several other films, including ‘Reality Bites’, ‘Steal This Movie!’, ‘Sweethearts’, ‘Mystery Men’, ‘The Independent’ and ‘The Minus Man’. As a comedian, she even made appearances on shows like ‘The Larry Sanders Show’, ‘The Ben Stiller Show’ and ‘Saturday Night Live’. In 1999, she co-wrote New York Times Bestseller, ‘Feel This Book’ with Ben Stiller.
