Bio

James Gandolfini, the American actor, was born in 1961. He graduated from Park Ridge High School, New Jersey, and then obtained a degree in Communication from Rutgers University in Brunswick. Before taking acting lessons at the Actors Studio, the actor worked as a bartender, bouncer and manager. New York Theatre was where he started acting and first drew attention with ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, a Broadway production. Though the breakthrough in James career was through the character Virgil, a mob henchman, in Tony Scott’s ‘True Romance’, while the Mafia boss role that he played in the blockbuster HBO Series ‘Sopranos’ was what brought him global fame. The audience recognises and remembers him as Tony Soprano, the Mafia Boss, to date. He continued to portray brutish characters in several films until he featured in a satirical comedy ‘God of Carnage’, a Broadway production that earned critical acclaim. James also featured in ‘Enough Said’ and ‘The Drop’. He died of a heart attack in 2013.
