American Actress Gena Rowlands achieved maximum professional success when she worked in films directed by her husband, John Cassavetes. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, she moved to New York to enter the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she met her husband and began her acting career. Her TV debut and a leading role in Broadway came in 1954. It was the TV Series ‘Peyton Place’ that genuinely helped her make her mark, earning her an Emmy nomination. Her first Emmy award for Outstanding Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie came with ‘The Betty Ford Story’ in 1987. She went on to win four Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes later in her career. She even earned Academy Award nominations for her films, ‘Gloria’ and ‘A Woman Under the Influence’. In 2015, the actress received an Honorary Academy Award for her outstanding screen performances and contribution to the world of cinema.
