Everything But The Girl was one of the most promising bands back in the 90s. The musical duo consisted of the very talented producer & instrumentalist Ben Watt and the lead singer, Tracey Thorn, who used to attend the University Of Hull. Both Thorn and Watt had contacted Cherry Red Records as individual artists and had released separate records through their company. Post their initial successes as solo artists, Watt and Thorn decided to form a band called Everything But The Girl, whose name was inspired by a furniture shop slogan. The duo’s music played four Top 10 singles in the US and even got a gold RIAA certification. The band achieved their biggest hit ever when they released their single ‘Missing,’ which charted in various countries and even earned a place for itself in BIllboard’s Top 100 songs for the year 1995. However, due to reasons unknown, the band took an extended hiatus in the early 2000s and has not released a song since.
