Born on November 28, 1950, in Tenafly, New Jersey, USA and raised in New York, Edward Allen Harris started as an actor in the local theatres. He relocated to Los Angeles at the age of 25 and first appeared on a television episode. Ed made minor appearances in Gibbsville (1975), Lou Grant (1979, 1980, and 1981), Hart to Hart (1981), and American Playhouse (1984). He played a minor role in his debut film, Coma (1978), and landed his ticket to fame with Borderline (1980), where he co-starred with Charles Bronson. He has a ton of nominations and awards to his name. Some of them being a Tony Award for Best Actor for Precious Sons (1986), two Golden Globe awards for Best Supporting Actor in The Truman Show (1998), and Game Change (2012).
