Singer Dido was born Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong. Her stage name is a name given to her by her family as a young girl. She showed a keen interest in music as early as five, which led to her parents enrolling her at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In 1995, she put ten demo tracks together to create the album ‘Odds and Ends’, which she sent to Nettwerk Management, who immediately signed her on. Her debut studio album, ‘No Angel’ was an instant hit, selling 21 million copies worldwide. The album and its singles won two Brit Awards for Best British Female and Best British Album, and an MTV Europe Music Award. The first two albums that she released are among UK chart history's best-selling albums. Her single, ‘If I Rise’ from the third album, ‘Safe Trip Home’ even earned her an Academy Award nomination. In 2019, she was honored with the coveted Ivor Novello Award.
