Born in Birmingham, singer Diana DeGarmo started her career at the age of 16 and made it to the Top 12 of the American Idol. Once out of the show, Diana degan to go on tours and released her single ‘Dreams’ around that time. Her debut album Blue Skies (2,004), under the RCA Records label, did not fare as well as expected. The performer later debuted in theatre, starring in ‘West Side Story’ (2005) in a San Jose production. She debuted on Broadway as the comic Penny Pingleton in ‘Hairspray’ (2006) and won accolades. She toured with Melba Moore and Cleavant Derricks, recipients of Tony Awards, as part of ‘Brooklyn: The Musical’ (2006). DeGarmo made her return to Broadway as Penny in 2007. She also participated in a CMT reality show, ‘Gone Country’ (2007). After dabbling in various fields, she finally returned to country music and released her extended play, Unplugged in Nashville (2009).
