Born on August 8, 1958, in Dalton, Georgia, Deborah Anne Norville started her career as a television presenter while still in college. She was working as an intern on Georgia Public Television's 'The Lawmakers' when an executive spotted her when she suggested that she try her hand at being a news presenter. After reading a few lines at an impromptu audition at the station network, she was later offered a weekend news reporter job. She began working for the channel, interacted with several celebrities, and conducted a live interview with President Jimmy Carter in January 1979. She was eventually recruited as a full-time news reporter and was nominated for the weekend anchor position in October 1979. She later joined the NBC news station in January 1987 as an anchor for 'NBC News At Sunrise,' being the only solo female anchor of a network newscast. She has also worked with personalities like Ann Curry and Willard Scott.
