Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper, popularly known by the name Cyndi Lauper, is a singer and songwriter from Brooklyn, America. She is most popularly known for her song ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’, which turned her into a renowned pop icon. Lauper began her career singing at local nightclubs and performing popular songs. In the year 1977, Lauper made her first stage performance as a part of Blue Angels, a rockabilly band formed with fellow musician John Turi. The band was not very successful, but it got Lauper noticed. In 1983, Lauper began her solo career, releasing her first album. This album, titled ‘She’s So Unusual’ topped several charts and won her the Best New Artist Award at the 1984 Grammys. Her subsequent albums were True Colors and Hat Full of Stars.
