Hailing from Nebraska, Conor Mullen Oberst was first presented with an opportunity to perform when Ted Stevens asked him to join him on stage in 1992. Based on his performance then, Bill Hoover invited him to play with him as well. Conor went prepared with his own composition of songs. By the middle of 1993, Oberst was dedicated towards the making of his debut music album, Water. It was released with the help of his brother from Lumberjack Records, which is now known as Saddle Creek Records. The first band he was associated with was Norman Bailer, where he worked with Joel Peterson and Todd Fink in 1994. He formed Commander Venus in the middle of 1995, post disbandment of which he formed Bright Eyes (1995-2011, 2020-present). Albums like A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995-1997 (1998), and Letting off the Happiness (1998), established Oberst as an exceptional songwriter, later published in the Rollingstone Magazine in 2008.
