Hailing from Michigan, Christine Ann Lahti gained recognition as an actor through her performance in And Justice for All (1979), where she worked with Al Pacino. However, she entered showbiz with The Harvey Korman Show (1978) while simultaneously working in two other television films. Early on, she won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress and nominations for Academy and Golden Globe Awards for her role in Swing Shift (1984). Her roles as Annie Pope and Cynthia Manfield in Running on Empty (1988) won awards and nominations. She has directed and acted in Lieberman in Love (1995) and My First Mister (2001). Among all the outstanding performances she has delivered on television, her role as Dr. Kathryn Austin in the series Chicago Hope (1995-1999) has won her numerous nominations along with a Golden Globe, a Primetime Emmy, and a Satellite Award for Best Actress.
