Mon. when she was studying at Kent State University. She worked at an architectural firm for eight months before pursuing music as her career. She is the founder of the band Pretenders, formed in 1978, alongside drummer Martin Chambers, bassist Pete Farndon, and guitarist James Honeyman Scott. She has also constantly been the lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter. After 30 years of being part of the band, she went on to pursue her solo career. She collaborated with JP Jones for an album called Fidelity! in 2010. She also collaborated with Bjorn Yttling for a 2014 album called Stockholm.
