Bruno Podalydes
Born on march 11, 1961 in Boulogne, Billancourt, Bruno Podalydès initially used to produce short corporate films for Air France. His first short film, entitled ‘Versailles Rive-Gauche’, instantly won the critics’ favor, earning him an Audience Award as well as a Jury Mention at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, a Jury and Critic Prize at the Chamrousse Festival, and the Cesar Award for the Best Short Film. His next short film, ‘Voila’, was selected by the Venice Film Festival. Bruno eventually wanted to venture into the field of feature films and developed the script for a hybrid between a situational comedy and a character comedy called ‘Versailles-Chantiers’. This film was also shot with an alternative version with six different episodes and received the Cesar Award for Best First Work in 1999. Podalydès also directed the movie ‘Adieu Berthe, the funeral of Mémé’, which was selected for the Directors Fortnight Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
