Bio

Bob Vila born in 1946 in Miami, Florida, USA, is an actor and director. Some of his famous works include Home Again with Bob Vila, Hot Shots, Part Deux, and Born into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Kids. Bob graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School. During 1969-70 he was a US Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama. Bob obtained a degree in journalism from Miami-Dade Jr. College and the University of Florida. He received the ‘Heritage House of 1978’ award by Better Homes and Gardens after which he hosted the show ‘This Old House’. Sears hired Bob as the commercial spokesman and hosted Bob Vila's Home Again in the early 1990s. He also featured in the commercials by Sears for Craftsman tools brand. Bob appeared in the comedy series ‘Home Improvement’, and has authored various books, of which there was a bestselling five-book series titled Bob Vila's Guides to Historic Homes of America that was very popular.
