Born in Minnesota, Robert Allen Zimmerman started his music career as a folk singer. This was when he took up the last name 'Dylan' after the poet Dylan Thomas. His first recording was with Harry Belafonte after he shifted to New York City to meet Woody Guthrie. His first album Dylan (1962), brought him to public notice. Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (1963) established his reputation as a rebel with a cause and a favorite among the masses. One of his most excellent compositions of all time, 'Blowing in the Wind' allowed him to work with Albert Grossman. He released his album The Times They Are A-Changin' (1964) after he met Joan Baez, with whom he maintained a lifelong association. Dylan composed revolutionary songs like 'Mr. Tambourine Man, and 'Like a Rolling Stone.' With a Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016, ten Grammys, an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award, Bob Dylan are one of the greatest songwriters known to man.
