Barack Hussein Obama II is an American lawyer, politician, and writer. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961, he graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School. He chaired the Harvard Law Review.Obama, before becoming the 44th president of the United States (2009-2017), was a senator from the state of Illinois (2005-2008). Obama became the first African-descendant president. Among his achievements as a senator, he promoted the law for the control of conventional arms.
