Anne Bancroft
Born in the Bronx, New York, Anne Bancroft made her debut as an actor in Don’t’ Bother to Knock (1952). However, this did not lead her to more significant roles. Anne dabbled between minor roles in films and television series before deciding to take a break from the screen and venture into Broadway. In 1959, she won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Anne Sullivan in the Broadway productions of The Miracle Worker. Anne made her comeback in films with the same role in The Miracle Worker (1962) and won several nominations, an Academy Award for Best Actress, and an Oscar. She is the recipient of three BAFTA Awards, two Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmys, and another Tony Award for her performances in films like The Pumpkin Eater (1964), The Graduate (1967), The Turning Point (1977), and Agnes of God (1985).
