Angus Andrew is the man behind the Australian-American rock band ‘Liars.’ Andrew’s journey as a musician started with a vision of being signed to a record company and watching his songs played on vinyl. During his time as a photography major at Cal Arts, Angus met Hemphill Gross. Gross and Andrew decided to collaborate on minimal four-track recordings of their songs. After graduating from his university, Angus moved out to New York City with Gross and put out an ad calling for musicians to join their band. The ad was answered by Ron Albertson and Pat Noecker, who went on to play drums and bass. Andrew has stated that the Liars’ music drew significant inspiration from artists such as The Cure, The Doors, and PJ Harvey. Andrew remains the only original member of the band. He has announced the release of a new album, ‘The Apple Drop,’ in collaboration with current band members Laurence Pike and Cameron Deyell.
