British singer, actress and songwriter, Alexandra Imelda Cecelia Ewen Burke became a household name after winning the fifth series of ‘The X Factor’. Born in London, she won several talent shows including ‘Star For a Night’ as a young girl. She studied briefly at Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School, which she quit, to start her career in music. After her X Factor win, she released her single ‘Hallelujah’, which smashed all European records for singles sales in 24 hours. It also became the number UK Christmas album and was the top-selling album in the UK in 2008. Her debut album, ‘Overcome’ topped UK charts and helped her win BRIT Award nominations. Her acting career began with the West End Musica, ‘The Bodyguard’. She recently released her third album ‘The Truth Is’, which also fared well in the UK charts.
