The American actress, singer, teacher and activist inspired by her father’s musical works developed a deep interest in theatre from an early age. Alexandra was actively involved with Chicago Theatre with some notable contributions to it. Billings has also participated in beauty pageants and won a series of beauty titles. She was also on the judge’s panel of the Miss Continental pageant in 2000 and 2001. Subsequently, Billings acted in films and television and became the second open transgender to portray a transgender person in the made-for-TV movie, ‘Romy and Michele: In the Beginning’ besides being the first-ever transgender playing a transgender role on Broadway. Alexandra has played transgender roles in a host of television series like Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Eli Stone, The Conners and ER. Billings contribution to films includes Stealth, Socket, Faux, Valley of Bones, Freelancers Anonymous, Paddleton, Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen. Apart from acting, Billings pursued a career in teaching and has taught at various Universities besides conducting workshops around Chicago.
