Alain Chamfort was born on March 2, 1949, in Paris, France, as Alain Begovic. An actor and composer, Alain is best known for Kill the Referee (1984, Gemma Bovery (2014), and Linoleum - Alain Chamfort/Cie Niki Noves (2019). Chamfort was a promising pianist in his youth, which later became his instrument of choice. His first band, The Dreamers, did not succeed as a repertory jazz outfit and was followed by a typical sixties rock music group Murator. Shortly after he met a famous producer and writer Jacques Dutronc, Alain got a lot of work in films and television. It is, in fact, with Dutronc that Alain's career leaped. He then made several albums initially with Claude François and later with Serge Gainsbourg, including his first album, Poses. However, one of the most famous songs by Chamfort is from the album Manurewa. He has also composed for the cinema, working with Jean-Pierre Mocky and with Arnaud Sélignac. As an actor, he was seen in Men/Toys/Girl in 2001. In 2004, Alain became a member of the BOD of SACEM.
