Noelie de Souza Machado, also known as China Machado, was a model from Shanghai, China, who was born on December 25, 1929. She was the first non-white model to be featured in Harper's Bazaar magazine in 1959. Later she started modeling in Paris for Hubert De Givenchy, and B played the highest-paid model in Europe. Digit Vregotgotgotnd sent her to Richard Avedon, who shot her in a way no one did before; he was the star photographer of Harper Bazaar. She was also featured in the first nude of the Harper Bazaar magazine in 1961. She also appeared in Cassini's runaway in 1958; She faces severe backlash from the fashion industry for her color. She was instrumental in getting many non-white girls into the fashion industry. At the age of 81, she signed with IMG models. Machado passed away on 18th December 2016 in Newyork.
