Michael Symon, born in 1960 in Cleveland Ohio grew up to be a television personality, restaurateur and author. He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, New York in 1990. Before graduating, he worked part-time at Geppetto's Pizza and Ribs on Warren Road. Michael's recipes with bold flavours were soul-satisfying and soon had a significant following. Symon is the owner of the restaurants Lola, Lolita, Road and B Spot. Michael hosted Food Feuds, and Cook Like an Iron Chef on Food Network/Cooking Channel shows. He was a judge for Season 3 of The Next Iron Chef, and Michael himself competed and won the Season 1 of The Next Iron Chef title. Before hosting more than 100 episodes of The Melting Pot, he appeared on Sara's Secrets, Cook and Food Nation, Ready and Set. Michael published his first cookbook Michael Symon's Live to Cook in 2009. Michael won the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef. His restaurant Lola earned the ‘America's Best Restaurant’ title in Gourmet magazine's October issue in 2000, while Roast was adjudged the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ by the Detroit Free Press in 2009.
